Western Blot: LKB1 Antibody [NBP2-14835] - LKB1 antibody was tested in human testes lysate.
Immunocytochemistry/ Immunofluorescence: LKB1 Antibody [NBP2-14835] - LKB1 antibody was tested in HepG2 cells with Dylight 488 (green). Nuclei and alpha-tubulin were counterstained with DAPI (blue) and Dylight 550 (red).
Immunohistochemistry-Paraffin: LKB1 Antibody [NBP2-14835] - LKB1 antibody was tested in mouse stomach using DAB with hematoxylin counterstain.
This LKB1 antibody is useful for Immunocytochemistry/Immunofluorescence, IHC-paraffin embedded sections and Western blot. In Western blot a band is detected ~48 kDa in human testes. In IHC-P, staining was observed in the nucleus and cytoplasm of mouse stomach. Prior to immunostaining paraffin tissues, antigen retrieval with sodium citrate buffer (pH 6.0) is recommended. In ICC/IF, nuclear staining was observed in HepG2 cells.

Liver kinase B1 (LKB1), also known as serine/threonine-protein kinase STK11, is a member of the serine/threonine kinase family. LKB1 is a tumor suppressor that helps control cell structure, apoptosis and energy homeostasis through regulation of numerous downstream kinases. More specifically, LKB1 controls the activity of AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK) family members, regulates cell polarity by remodeling the actin cytoskeleton, regulates the inhibition of cell growth signaling pathways in response to low energy levels, regulates autophagy in response to nutrient deprivation, and is involved in DNA damage response by differentiating B-cells in the germinal center. LKB1 phosphorylation in cells occurs at several sites, including human LKB1 at Ser31/325/428 and Thr189/336/363. LKB1 is ubiquitously expressed in tissues with the strongest expression in testis and fetal liver. Defects in the LKB1 gene have been known to cause Peutz-Jeghers syndrome (PJS), testicular germ cell tumors (TGCT), non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), and other sporadic cancers. While not thoroughly characterized, alternate transcriptional splice variants of the LKB1 gene have been observed.
