Western Blot: GIRK2 Antibody [NB100-74575] - Staining of Human Brain (Substantia Nigra) lysate (35ug protein in RIPA buffer). Detected by chemiluminescence.
WB: Approx. 48 kDa band observed in human brain (hippocampus and substantia nigra) lysates (calculated MW of 48.5 kDa band according to NP_002231.1). Use in IHC, ICC/IF reported in scientific literature (PMID: 28398344).
Theoretical MW
48 kDa. Disclaimer note: The observed molecular weight of the protein may vary from the listed predicted molecular weight due to post translational modifications, post translation cleavages, relative charges, and other experimental factors.

Background
Potassium channels are present in most mammalian cells, where they participate in a wide range of physiologic responses. The protein encoded by this gene is an integral membrane protein and inward-rectifier type potassium channel. The encoded protein, which has a greater tendency to allow potassium to flow into a cell rather than out of a cell, is controlled by G-proteins and may be involved in the regulation of insulin secretion by glucose. It associates with two other G-protein-activated potassium channels to form a heteromultimeric pore-forming complex.
