Neurturin is a member of the GDNF family of ligands and is distantly related to TGF‑ beta family ligands. It is a disulfide linked homodimer that interacts with a receptor complex composed of a high affinity ligand binding component (GFR alpha 1 or GFR alpha 2) and a common signaling component, cRET. Neurturin promotes the survival of avariety of neurons and possibly other cell types.
