intermediate filament protein
Background
Desmin is an intermediate filament protein of both smooth and striated muscles. Antibody to desmin reacts with striated (skeletal and cardiac) as well as smooth muscle cells. In skeletal and cardiac muscles, the staining is confined to the Z bands giving a characteristic striated appearance. Antidesmin antibody is useful in identification of tumors of myogenic origin.
Limitations
This product is for research use only and is not approved for use in humans or in clinical diagnosis. Primary Antibodies are guaranteed for 1 year from date of receipt.
This is a great antibody. The example given is a fixed paraffin embedded slide with Dako antigen retrieval. However, it has also worked without AR, with other AR methods, and on cryosections. It has worked well in the heart for every method that I have attempted for E8-E11 mouse embryos.
Blocking
Blocking Details
Blocked with IHC buffer for 1 hour at RT (IHC buffer: 2% normal donkey serum, 1% bovine serum albumin, 0.3% Triton X-100, 0.02%
Primary Anitbody
Dilution Ratio
1:200 in IHC buffer, overnight at 4C
Secondary Antibody
Secondary Description
Jackson ImmunoResearch donkey anti rabbit Cy3, 1:200, and Jackson ImmunoResearch donkey anti-Chicken-dylight 488,
