This SynCAM/CADM1 antibody can be used for Western blot and Immunocytochemistry/Immunofluorescence. Brain fractions give banding patterns of a core glycosylation population around 50kDa and a slightly higher glycosylated population around 65 kDa. Heterologous cell lysates give a single band around 107kDa. In ICC/IF, membrane staining was observed in SH-SY-5Y cells.
In Simple Western only 10 - 15 uL of the recommended dilution is used per data point. Separated by Size-Wes, Sally Sue/Peggy Sue.

Background
CADM1 (cell adhesion molecule 1; SynCAM1) is an intercellular cell adhesion receptor which belongs to immunoglobulin superfamily and is expressed by diverse cell types which includes lung alveolar cells, biliary epithelial cells, pancreatic islet cells, ameloblasts, neurons, and mast cells. Human CADM1 was originally discovered as a tumour suppressor of lung cancer 1, and modulation of its expression, SNPs or mutations in CADM1 are now known to implicate in several diseases including cancer, autism spectrum disorder and venous thrombosis. The expression of CADM1 is significantly reduced in neuroblastoma and cancers of the lung, oesophagus and skin; wherein it is inversely correlated with carcinogenic progression. Its expression is reduced in endothelial cells in venous thrombosis, however, it gets upregulated in adult T-cell leukaemia/lymphoma as well as acute T-cell leukaemia wherein it facilitates tissue infiltration. CADM1 is involved in adhesion via homophilic and heterophilic interactions with other cell's counter-receptors that belongs to same family (CADM1 itself, CADM2, CADM3, nectin3 and CRTAM). CADM1 expression is also increased in neuro-developmental disorder Rett syndrome.
