Human HMW Adiponectin/Acrp30 Quantikine ELISA Kit Summary

Background
The Quantikine Human HMW Adiponectin Immunoassay is a 4.5 hour solid-phase ELISA designed to measure human HMW Adiponectin in serum and plasma. It contains NS0-expressed recombinant human HMW Adiponectin and has been shown to accurately quantitate the recombinant factor. Results obtained using natural human HMW Adiponectin showed linear curves that were parallel to the standard curves obtain...ed using the Quantikine kit standards. These results indicate that this kit can be used to determine relative mass values for naturally occurring human HMW Adiponectin.

Background

Adiponectin (also known as Adipocyte complement-related protein of 30 kDa, Acrp30) is an adipocyte-derived protein with wide ranging paracrine and endocrine effects on metabolism and inflammation. It promotes adipocyte differentiation, fatty acid catabolism, and insulin sensitivity and is negatively correlated with obesity, type 2 diabetes, and atherogenesis. Adiponectin associates into 70 kDa noncovalently-linked trimers that are disulfide-linked into medium molecular weight hexamers and then into >300 kDa high molecular weight oligomers.
