Application Notes
WB: Preliminary experiments gave an approx. 55 kDa band in human breast, placenta and testis lysates after 0.1 ug/ml antibody staining. Please note that currently we cannot find an explanation in the literature for the band we observe given the calculated size of 24.6 kDa band according to NP_115934.1. The 55 kDa band was successfully blocked by incubation with the immunizing peptide. IHC-P: Mouse Embryonic liver shows staining of the hepatocyte cell membranes.

Background

This gene encodes a member of the epidermal growth factor (EGF)- Cripto, Frl-1, and Cryptic (CFC) family. EGF-CFC family member proteins share a variant EGF-like motif, a conserved cysteine-rich domain, and a C-terminal hydrophobic region. These proteins play key roles in intercellular signaling pathways during vertebrate embryogenesis. Mutations in this gene can cause autosomal visceral heterotaxy. This protein is involved in left-right asymmetric morphogenesis during organ development.
