Submit your event on Wnt Signaling Pathway to be featured.
Wnt proteins are a family of cysteine rich glycoproteins that play a role in embryonic development and cellular homeostasis, but have also been shown to play a role in the development of certain cancers and other pathological conditions. The Wnt signaling pathway contains three branches: the Canonical (beta-catenin) pathway, the planar cell polarity pathway and the Wnt/Ca2+ pathway. This pathway consists of a set of short-range, secreted signaling molecules that bind to specific receptors to activate complex signaling cascades. Key players in Wnt signaling include beta Catenin, Dishevelled, GSK3 beta, APC and Frizzled receptors.
