Background

Serotonin (5-hydroxytryptamine, 5-HT), originally discovered as a serum factor plays important roles in regulating diverse biological processes in central and peripheral nervous systems, cardiovascular systems, and gastrointestinal systems. The 5-HT3 receptors are distinguished from other 5-HT receptors by their structure and function. 5-HT3 receptors span the membrane only four times and are ligand-gated, cation-selective ion channels that mediate neuronal excitation and exocytotic release of neurotransmitters within the peripheral and central nervous systems. Functional studies done on isolated tissues have revealed heterogeneity of this receptor. The human 5-HT3R-As cDNA contains an open reading frame of 1434 base pairs predicting a 23-residue signal peptide and a mature receptor subunit of 455 amino acids. The human subunit exhibits 85% and 84% amino acid sequence identity to the mouse and rat receptors, respectively. Anti-5-HT3R polyclonal antibody shows immunoreactivity in the forebrain (olfactory regions, hippocampal formation and amygdala), sensory and motor nuclei of brainstem and spinal cord.

  1. Can you please let me know if you have antibodies against the following? For nAChR alpha 7 receptor of human origin - between amino acids 321- 465 For Glycine alpha1 receptor of human origin - between amino acids 339-413 For 5-HT 3A receptor of mouse origin - between amino acids 338-452
    • We do not routinely epitope map our antibodies, and do not typically know where the antigen/antibody cites are. On occasion, customers will provide feedback about the epitopes, but this is not the norm. Unfortunately, we do not have any antibodies for nAChR alpha 7 receptor. For alpha 1 Glycine Receptor, we have two antibodies that target the N-terminus, NB300-113 and NBP1-49174, but I do not have more specific information about the epitope. For 5HT3A, we do have one antibody that may suit your needs, NB100-56351.
