T cell immunoglobulin and mucin-domain containing 3 (TIM-3) is a type I transmembrane protein that is expressed on immune cells including CD4+ T helper (Th1) cells, CD8+ T cytotoxic (Tc1) cells, regulatory T cells (Treg), natural killer (NK) cells, and leukemia stem cells (LSCs). TIM-3 is a known checkpoint receptor that plays a role in suppressing immune cell responses. The human TIM-3 protein is 301 amino acids (aa) in length with a theoretical molecular weight (MW) of 33.4 kDa.
