Gamma-glutamyl hydrolase, also known as GGH, is a homodimeric protein that catalyzes the cleavage of the gamma-glutamyl chain of folylpoly-gamma-glutamyl substrates and is a central enzyme in folyl and antifolyl poly-gamma-glutamate metabolism. GGH may play an important role in the bioavailability of dietary pteroylpolyglutamates and in the metabolism of pteroylpolyglutamates and antifolates. Recombinant human GGH protein, fused to His-tag at N-terminus, was expressed in E.coli and purified by using conventional chromatography techniques.
