ST2, also known as Interleukin-33 Receptor (IL-33R), is an Interleukin-1 receptor family glycoprotein that that is expressed on activated helper T (Th2 cells), mast cells, macrophages, and cardiac myocytes. ST2/IL-33R is encoded by the IL1RL1 gene and serves as a receptor for IL-33 which contributes to Th2 cytokine production. The canonical human ST2 protein is 556 amino acids (aa) in length with a theoretical molecular weight (MW) of 63.4.
