Description
POLR1B, also known as DNA-directed RNA polymerase I subunit RPA2, has a 1,135 amino acid long isoform that is approximately 128kDa, and a short 1,079 amino acid isoform that is approximately 121kDa. POLR1B is a RNA polymerase that is localized to the nucleolus. POLR1B is the second largest fundamental element of pol I, which is responsible for the production of ribosomal RNA. Current research on POLR1B is being performed in relation to several diseases and disorders including pneumonia, malaria and tuberculosis. POLR1B has also been shown to have interactions with Histone cluster 1 H4/A, H4/B, H4/C, H4/D and H4/E in pathways such as RNA Polymerase I transcription and RNA Polymerase III transcription.
