Immunogen | Glycated modified protein |
Specificity | NB100-63095 recognizes a variety of advanced glycated end product (AGE) epitopes. Glycation is the post-translational modification of proteins, linking a reducing sugar to an amino group on a protein. AGEs are thought to be involved in structural and functional alterations of proteins observed in aging and diabetes. AGEs recognised by NB100-63095 include carboxymethyllysine and pentosidine. Increases in pentosidine levels are associated with aging, diabetes, cataracts, renal diseases, chronic rheumatoid arthritis, photaged skin and Alzheimers disease. Carboxymethyllysine is involved in uracemia. |
